Environmental, Social and Governance Statement

King Site Services

King Site Services is a family-run business established in 1985. Now proudly operating with the involvement of the third generation, our business is built on strong family values, long-term relationships, and a commitment to supporting our people, clients, and local communities.

Our approach to Environmental, Social and Governance responsibilities reflects who we are as a company: practical, accountable, community-focused, and committed to continuous improvement. This statement sets out our current approach to responsible business practice and our ongoing commitment to improving the way we operate.

Environmental Responsibility

We recognise our responsibility to reduce our environmental impact and are committed to taking practical steps to lower our carbon footprint across the business.

We currently operate a small number of plug-in hybrid vehicles within our fleet and have ambitions to transition further towards lower-emission and electric vehicles over time. We are also exploring the installation of solar panels at our Hirwaun fabrication workshop, alongside the development of on-site electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

We continue to monitor energy and fuel use across our operations. Diesel remains a significant area of operational consumption, particularly across fuel cards and on-site equipment. Electricity use is monitored at our Hirwaun fabrication shop, while we continue to seek further information where utilities are managed as part of rental arrangements.

Our supply chain is reviewed on an ongoing basis, with environmental considerations forming part of procurement decisions. Where possible, we select suppliers based on proximity to project locations to help reduce travel distances, fuel consumption, and associated emissions, while also supporting cost efficiency and responsive project delivery.

Steel is our primary material purchase, and we recognise the environmental significance of the materials used within our operations. We remain committed to reviewing procurement practices and identifying opportunities to improve sustainability within our supply chain.

As a South Wales business, we are keen to support the transition to green energy and collaborate with clients, suppliers, and partners who share our ambition to reduce environmental impact.

Social Responsibility

Our employees are central to the continued success and long-term sustainability of King Site Services. We are proud to employ local tradesmen and women and to maintain a supportive, respectful, and collaborative working environment across the business.

We are committed to open and transparent communication. Our open-door approach enables employees to raise ideas, share feedback, and contribute to the ongoing development of the company. To further strengthen employee engagement, we are formalising communication channels through regular staff engagement sessions, including town talks and staff surveys.

We place significant importance on workforce development and career progression. Wherever possible, we seek to promote from within and actively encourage employees to undertake training, upskilling, and professional development. Discussions regarding individual ambitions, performance, and future progression form part of our employee review and KPI processes.

Apprenticeships have been a long-standing and valued part of our business. We are committed to supporting new entrants into the industry by providing practical experience, training, and long-term career opportunities. Many individuals who have joined King Site Services through apprenticeship routes have gone on to build lasting careers with the company, contributing to our low staff turnover and strong organisational culture.

We are also committed to improving representation and inclusion within traditionally male-dominated industries. This includes supporting initiatives that encourage and celebrate female participation in sport, work, and the wider community. Our support has included sponsorship of local female sports teams and athletes, including Baglan under-14s girls’ football team and local women’s rugby.

Supporting the communities in which we operate is a core part of our values. We contribute to local schools, sports clubs, charitable causes, and community groups. Our ongoing support for Pen Pych Primary School has contributed towards resources such as Christmas gifts for underprivileged children, nursery equipment, and school uniforms.

King Site Services has also supported the purchase of the Tynewydd Hotel, a historic local venue and former miners’ pub. This investment has helped preserve an important community space, support local employment, and provide a venue for a wide range of community events, including children’s seasonal activities, fundraising events, bingo nights, funerals, birthday gatherings, and other social occasions.

We believe responsible businesses have an important role to play in supporting their people and the wider communities around them. This commitment remains central to the culture and long-term direction of King Site Services.

Governance

Our approach to governance is rooted in accountability, transparency, ethical decision-making, and long-term thinking.

We recognise the importance of clear structure, responsibility, and oversight within the business. Our management structure is regularly reviewed to ensure responsibilities remain clearly defined and decision-making supports the long-term interests of our employees, clients, and stakeholders.

We are committed to maintaining high standards across our operations and follow recognised industry standards, including ISO 9001 for Quality Management, ISO 14001 for Environmental Management, and ISO 45001 for Health and Safety Management.

Our dedicated quality and compliance teams play an important role in ensuring these standards are embedded throughout the business. They support continuous improvement, monitor compliance, and help ensure our processes remain robust, transparent, and effective.

We are proud of the open and honest relationships we maintain with our clients, employees, suppliers, and wider stakeholders. We believe good governance is not simply about policies and procedures, but about creating a culture of responsibility, trust, and accountability at every level of the company.
